Virtual tour of the Russian State Library
The Excursion department of the Russian State Library has prepared a special gift for the readers — a virtual tour of the RSL. When you cannot come to the library, the library will come to you!
For the first time ever, you can pay a virtual visit to the magnificent halls and vast storage spaces of the RSL. A 360-degree tour created by the Excursion department introduces the public to the history and architecture of the country’s main library as well as to its rich collections.
Explore the area, follow the signs, and click on yellow marks. If you get lost, open the map at the bottom of the screen. Keep in mind that you can have a «virtual look around» by rotating the picture in any direction, and zoom in for details.
The tour makes anything possible: take a closer look at a unique collection of books at the bibliophile’s office, learn the secrets of the mysterious Reading Hall 3, pop into the Book museum, climb up the marble staircase, or wander around the square in front of the main building.
The tour is accompanied by iconic classical masterpieces composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Niccolo Paganini, Gabriel Foret, and Franz Schubert that come from the RSL sound library.
